Splish splash!

New week, new mix of children and what did I hear first thing this morning?  "What dangerous thing are we going to try today?"  Uh oh.  I had no dangerous things planned!  What to do, what to do?

Our most tried and tested table today had plates of baking soda, with pipettes and cups of colored vinegar.  All self respecting preschoolers know that this is an invitation for exploration that just might involve some kind of fizzle and sizzle and eruption.

Nicky remembered his favorite experience of the year, exploring with cabbage juice, lemon juice and baking soda...this is essentially the same thing, minus the horrid smell of the boiled cabbage!

Andrew:  Hey Jennifer!  Look at all my smoke!

Nicky:  Me and Andrew poured a little blue in the pink and it made purple!

Eventually we got around to needing TOO much...

Andrew used four pipettes at a time to see what might happen.

Meanwhile, over on the block rug, Nathan and Rishi constructed a very long tunnel using the magnatiles.  As if that wasn't wondrous enough, they sent marbles traveling the length of it and followed their path by listening to the sound they made as they traveled from Nathan's end to Rishi's end...

Leila and Celia worked on spin art

Outside, neither Andrew nor Nicky dressed for water play, but they discovered how vibrant sidewalk chalk becomes when it's a bit wet...

Nathan gets the most out of the slip and slide!  He went past the end of it every time!

Rishi perfected a crawl stroke down its slope...

While Annabelle traveled sometimes on her knees...

...and sometimes on her belly...

Celia hits the finish line!

It's not wet enough so Rishi adds a little more water to Annabelle's wet journey

"Surely you've been a child, or known someone who has been one..." Today was a day to be a child again.

And tomorrow I'd better come up with a dangerous thing...
