Prisms!

When children arrived for our first day of school on Monday, one of the things lying in wait for them on the science and nature table was a trio of prisms, (along with several bird's nests, feathers, and some fish bones, finally identified last year by Lucas' dad...mandibles and an operculum!

But it's the prisms that have called to Grady every time he passed the table.  He'd stop and pick one up, look through it, pick another one up, look through that one, and then walk through the room, peering around through the prism.  Today, Declan and Annabelle joined him...

Grady:  You can go down or actually...you're up there and you're down there.  I see two of you!
I see a rainbow!  Declan, your airplane is all rainbows.

Declan:  When I look through this part, you're upside down.

Annabelle:  I see rainbows!  I see two of you!

And what we see, when we look back through the prism at them, is very interesting too!

Speaking of rainbows, while playing at the light table this morning, Declan discovered that by layering the magnatiles one on top of another, he mixed colors!  Pam delights in his discovery!
